Wikipedia defines Salon as “a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation.” Imagine the birth child of that old fashioned salon and an environmentally sustainable hair salon and you’ve got Manifesta Salon! Just about one of the brightest new stars of Old Oakland, they recently celebrated their Grand Opening with a two day festival chocked full of local artists, makers, politicians, musicians, and more! Friday boasted a sick-ass barber battle with the fellas from Hella Massive, while Saturday saw Mayoral candidates engage in a different kind of battle. The food was only to be rivaled by community participation with a variety of thought provoking panels, local small business popups, and all the folks who stopped in for a hand massage or the join in the dialogues- what an event! Congratulations Manifesta! We look forward to partnering with you again and again.
Under warm autumn light falling on California redwoods, this couple exchanged rings before their loved ones on October 11, 2014 at Rockefeller Lodge. Erika and Gio are the sweetest couple, and we are so fortunate to have met & photographed them. Their love for each other was very clear- as well as the love that surrounded them. How lucky for the little baby girl that is on her way to this family! Congratulations, Gio & Erika!!! Much love and happiness to you from Darling Dear.
Meet Lori & Shannon: We had the pleasure of witnessing their glorious wedding at Shelldance Orchid Garden in Pacifica. This wedding was replete with a a few dozen varieties of orchids, one Burning Man dome, two brides, and lots of leather and lace! Armed only with warmth and affection, their community gathered around them for a rich and soulful celebration. As if orchids weren’t enough, Shannon & Lori first danced to La Vie en Rose and chose the shared last name–Anahata, represented visually as a lotus flower. How dreamy are all those flowers!? Warmest wishes to our new friends– may you always shine so brightly.
